Abstract: The aim of this thesis is to analyze the political development of Cuba from 2000 to 2021. The authors build on the theoretical work of Samuel Huntington who proposes to analyze the five main components of political development. These are political culture, structures of formal political institutions (government, bureaucracy, legislative body), social groups that make demands on formal political institutions (civil society), high-level politicians and their leadership and political orientation of a particular regime. On the basis of these five criteria, the development of the Cuban political regime, which is defined as non-competitive, authoritarian and post-communist, will be discussed. The text will be descriptive and analytical, based on the relevant literature. The field survey conducted in July 2019, December 2020 and January 2021 can be considered as a complementary method.
