Abstract: The article focuses on conceptual metaphors in political and cultural discourse in Slovakia, with a particular emphasis on public statements by Minister of Culture Martina Šimkovičová and the subsequent reactions of the opposition, artists, and the cultural community. The article identifies and interprets the linguistic frameworks that shape public debate on culture, while analysing metaphors that play a key role in polarising society and constructing ideological positions.
