Abstract: In contemporary cognitive linguistics, linguoculturology and intercultural communication, precedent names represent one of the very intense manifestations of precedent phenomena, which are presented mainly in short texts, important for an individual and for a certain group of producers and recipients in cognitive and emotional meaning, which also have a supra-personal character and given individuals and groups constantly return to them in possible discursive situations with which they are confronted. They are used all the more in political discourse because one of the main properties of a precedent noun precedent, and of a precedent phenomenon in general, is its repeatability in the form of lexical, de facto verbal, connections that affect the feelings and emotions of the addressee, thereby requiring their attention and acquiring the ability to help the author of the verbal connection with the precedent express his intention, assessment or opinion. This is precisely what has its unmistakable value in political discourse, with elements of a certain form of suggestion. In the article, we analyze the essence of the functioning of precedent names, their specificities, peculiarities of use, axiological scales, and relevance in contemporary political discourse.
