Abstract: The paper analyses the contradiction in the European Union’s language policy, which legally declares the equality of languages but violates it in practice. It points to the limitation of official languages of the Member States and the erosion of linguistic rights. The preference for English, French, and German has deepened inequality, weakening European identity and integration. The author argues for a common language policy based on Schuman’s peace principles and warns against premature English teaching in primary schools that undermines national languages and identity.
